The annual
trees trip to Potters Bar had the potential to be
a tricky fixture this year mainly due to 5 players
dropping out for various reasons, but not this season
Cloggs still took a strong squad of 16.
The start of the match was delayed by 15 mins as Roving
waited for their keeper to show. eventually we kicked
off, and we may has well stayed in MK, never have
i seen a trees side start so god damn poorly, i think
i actually called it "abortionate" at one
point.
But with 10 mins gone the trees settled down and started
to come back into the match, and Iain should have
scored from a Gravesy corner but the keeper got down
quickly to parry away. There wasnt really that many
chances in a game that was played for the most part
in the midfield, with the trees playing some good
stuff only for the final ball and the wrong option
to let us down.
Just after half time a cloggs corner should have been
finished by his shrekness only for him to knee/chest/gut
his effort over the bar from 3 yards. Then they scored
from a quick break which was pretty much their only
serious effort on goal. With time running out Trees
went for broke and could have conceeded again but
the lino flag saved us. Then with 92 mins only the
clock up step none other than the gaffa with an effort
from 30 yards (which may or may not have taken a slight
deflection, slow mo replays have been inconclusive)
that flew past their keeper. Final score 1-1
GAFFA SAYS
Not one for the purists but a good run out nonetheless.
